Where this comes from
Published
Published monthly by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). The Consumer Price Index (CPI) tracks the prices of a fixed basket of goods and services bought by households; the current official series is indexed to a 2024 base year and starts in January 2026. Earlier months come from MoSPI’s previous series (base 2012), drawn as a separate line: the two base years are never joined, and no change is measured across them. Inflation is the year-on-year change in the index, shown here for Combined, Rural and Urban India. Each month is first published as Provisional and revised to Final in the following month’s release. Each monthly release below contributes the months it reports; a later release replaces an earlier one for the same month.
