Where this comes from
Published
Published monthly by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) in the same CPI release as headline inflation. Food inflation is the year-on-year change in the food part of the same Consumer Price Index basket, on the current official series indexed to a 2024 base year from January 2026, and on MoSPI’s previous series (base 2012) before that, drawn as a separate line that is never joined to the new one. It is shown here for Combined, Rural and Urban India. Each month is first published as Provisional and revised to Final in the following month’s release. Each monthly release below contributes the months it reports; a later release replaces an earlier one for the same month.
